124th Flower Show kick starts in Ooty

The Chief Minister M.K.Stalin inaugurated the 124th Flower Show inOoty today and admired the vegetable and fruit carvings displayed in the show.  With the summer season at the peak, the flower show is being held after 2 years in the Ooty the queen of hill stations. The show which began at the Government Botanical Gardens will go on for five days.  To attract tourists 5 lakh plants of several flower varieties have been developed displayed.

 A flower decoration in the shape of the number 200 signifying the founding of Ooty town 200 years back was a major attraction. A flower decoration in the shape of the elevation of the Tamilnadu Agricultural University building made out of 1 lakh flowers was another attraction.

Coronation flowers were brought from Bangalore and Hosur for making the above decoration. Flower sculptures of the six native tribes of Nilgiris made out of cut flowers and the 10 arches made out of thousands of cut flowers were also a big draw. The Chief Minister inaugu rated the flower show today morning, 
visited the fruit and vegetable carving galleries and admired them.
