16,503 get Rs 6.04 crore benefit under Vazhnthu Kattuvom scheme

District Collector Mr. H. Krishnanunni visited  a knitting unit, created under the Vazhnthu Kattuvom scheme in the Indiyampalayam panchayat in Sathy block on Thursday. .During this study, he said under the Rural Development department, the scheme was being enforced to create employment opportunities for women self-help groups and their family members in rural areas, by providing financial aid and training.

 In that regard, he inaugurated a training center under the project at the Satyamangalam Block Development Office. The project is being implemented in 77 village panchayats in Bhavani, Bhavanisagar, Chennimalai, Sathyamangalam and Talawadi areas of Erode district and  16,503 beneficiaries got Rs. 6.04 crore benefit under the scheme in the district.

In addition, 35 start-up groups and 24 new industry groups have been given an initial financial grant of Rs. 75,000 each.  An additional Rs. 24,90,000  has been allocated for 
training through 30 community farm schools and 15 community vocational schools, he said. He distributed Rs 24 lakh loan to 5 SHGs and also financial assistance to many to start their income generation activities on the occasion.
