A 40-year-old tree fell on the Mettupalayam-Ooty road near Baraliar, temporarily affecting traffic. The road is a vital route connecting Mettupalayam with Ooty and Coonoor in the Nilgiris district, often used by tourists, locals, and vegetable transport vehicles from Karnataka, Kerala, and Nilgiris.
Recent rains in the area caused the tree to collapse onto the road. The swift response by the Mettupalayam police and fire department, equipped with modern tools, ensured that the tree was quickly cut and removed.
The traffic, which was impacted for about half an hour, was soon cleared, allowing the smooth flow of vehicles to resume.
