Coimbatore Corporation Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar appealed to the roadside traders to utilize the 45 day loan mela began for them in Coimbatore from July 15.
Attending a programme of street vendors at Coimbatore on Saturday, she presented cheques, sales certificates and certificates of appreciation to them. She greeted all vendors and women self-help groups who have visited the special festival
of self-reliant roadside vendors organized by the Coimbatore Corporation. Under the Swannidhi scheme a target to identify 15450 traders in the City was set.
In this, 11000 beneficiaries have been given a loan amount of Rs.10,000 each. 2500 beneficiaries who have completed the first installment have been given a loan of Rs.20,000 in the second phase. Also, about 2200 beneficiaries have applied for loans.
A loan mela was also being held in all zones under the scheme for 45 days from
July 15. She pleaded
to vendors and SHGs to participate and benefit from the mela. , Coimbatore Corporation and the Government will always support their development," she assured.
