50,000 people attended the Yoga Mahotsav in Hyderabad


The ‘Yoga Mahotsav’ was held at the NCC Parade Ground in Hyderabad to commemorate 25 days to the International Day of Yoga. 
The event was organised by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. 
The Chief Guest was the Honourable Governor of Telangana, Dr. TamilisaiSoundararajan, as well as the Union Ministers of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, SarbanandaSonowal, the Union Minister of Culture, Tourism &DoNER, G KishanReddi, and the Union Minister of State for Women & Child Development and Ayush, DrMunjparaMahendrabhai.  Celebrities from the city such as Padma Bhushan awardee & noted Badminton player &coachPullelaGopichand, cine actors SreeLeela, Vishwaksen, Krishna Chaitanya and others were also witness to the electrifying atmosphere. 
Dr Ishwar V Basavaraddi, Director, MDNIY The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, SarbanandaSonowal, addressed a grand audience and expressed his joy at the massive participation in the Yoga Mahotsav.He noted that Yoga has surpassed all divisions of caste, creed, gender, religion and nationalities and has benefited all for their physical, mental and spiritual well-being. The theme of this year’s IDY is “Yoga for VasudhaivaKutumbkam”, which echoes the mood, spirit and acceptance of Yoga at national and global levels. On the international level, an Ocean Ring of Yoga will be created on June 21st with the help of the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Yoga demonstrations will also take place from Arctic to Antarctica.
