Tamilnadu Housing and Urban Development Department Principal Secretary Mr. Hitesh Kumar attended a consultation meeting at the Collectorate on Thursday. District Collector Dr. G.S.Sameeran, Corporation Commissioner M. Pratap, District Revenue Officer P. S. Leela Alex, Joint Director (District Urban Development Department) D. Murugan, Tamil Nadu Urban Livelihood Development Board Chief Engineer Sundarrajan, Superintending Engineer Ravikumar, Executive Engineer Venkatesan, and many government officials were present. Earlier, on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Urban Livelihood Development Board, 448 flats were being constructed at a cost of Rs 45.05 crore at Coimbatore Municipal Town Hall, Variety Hall Road.
The Secretary inspected it. He said at present Coimbatore urban development area has been expanded to 1531.53 sq km and a draft status report has been prepared. On behalf of Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, 6,796 flats are being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 624.11 crore through 26 projects in Mettupalayam, Valparai, Pollachi, Selvapuram, Ukkadam, Gandhipuram, Variety Hall, RS Puram in Coimbatore district. Department officials should take necessary steps to complete these works quickly, he said.
