Minister for dairy development SM Nasar said that Aavin would soon introduce ten new milk products.
The products would hit Aavin stores from August 20. Milk and other dairy products are being sold through Aavin outlets at a lower price to the public.
About 25 lakh litres are being sold in a day from Aavin, while Chennai also sells about 13 lakh litres of milk and it has about 5 lakh card holders.
Along with milk, they sell other dairy products like ice cream, ghee and palkova. Recently, the government-run dairy company has launched the sales of noodles, milk cake, payasam mix and yogurt.
Now, the government has decided to introduce ten new products including cheddar cheese, jackfruit ice cream, basundhi, baked yoghurt, white chocolate and cold coffee.
Meanwhile, after the union government has slapped the GST for curd, lassi and buttermilk, private dairy companies have increased the price of a curd packet by Rs 4 to Rs 10.
