ACA Hosur launches agriculture cum culinary diploma course

With a holistic vision towards vocational education and social engagement Asian Christian Academy of India (ACA) at Hosur, TamilNadu has introduced farming together with the local community programme.

The farm-to-table concept entails purchasing fresh produce directly from local farmers and incorporating it into meals. The unique farm-to-table culinary diploma program is a Level 2 Diploma by City & Guilds(London), with the agricultural sciences component offered independently by ACCASI.

The program will provide students the technical skills needed to work in a professional kitchen and the agricultural sciences segment by ACCAS will focus on sustainable and ethical farming practices.

Agricultural training will include dairy and goat farming, free range chicken and duck-rearing, aquaponics, hydroponics, and apiculture in addition tovertical farming and organic farming techniques. Knowledge of the entirevertical chain will offer possibilities for entrepreneurs to explore innovativemethodsor create newofferingsin the domain.
The ACA compost facility, sewage treatment plant, and rainwater harvestingstructures on-site endow self-suffciency by providing the necessary fertilizerand water required to conduct farming activities.All the sefacilitiesenable the production of a variety of crops and fruits, and housing of livestock, poultry,andfishes.
