Drug addiction is increasing in our country. What is distressing is the rampant sale of narcotic pills, ganja, etc., especially targeting college students and IT workers. Coimbatore is no exception.
In order to prevent this, the city police has taken continuous measures and arrested those involved and put them in jail, but the ganja sellers are sprouting up day by day.
Generally, drug dealers are involved in raiders and so do criminals involved in cases of assault, robbery and attempted murder.
There is no doubt that drug addiction will affect the future life of the youth. There are many students who get caught in this depravity and ruin their studies. The pain they feel when their parents' dreams are shattered is indescribable. Therefore, it is imperative to completely stop the sale of drugs.
A Tamil man was hanged in Singapore a few days ago for smuggling a kilo of ganja. How many kilos of ganja and drugs are seized in our country every day. How many people are arrested? If we calculate that, at least 100 people should be hanged every day.
Even yesterday, 7 people were arrested for smuggling methamphetamine from Bangalore to Coimbatore. All of them are already arrested in various criminal cases.
Although the death penalty is not necessary to the extent of Singapore, there is no difference of opinion that the punishments for drug offenders should be tougher in our country.Until such draconian laws are enforced, the police must control the movement of drugs within their jurisdiction. Parents should also monitor and advice their children.
That's the only option we have for now!
