Ahead of RenewX 2025, Informa Markets hosts round table discussion

Ahead of South India’s largest renewable energy sourcing fair, Informa Markets India organized a round table discussion on the topic ‘Unlocking the potential of renewable energy in India and Tamil Nadu’ in the city.
The event was a curtain raiser to the 9th edition of RenewX, scheduled to take place at the Chennai trade centre between April 23 and 25. The theme of the event is ‘Driving renewable energy potential, celebrating South India’s legacy of excellence’. The event will see over 150 leading brands, 50 industry experts, and more than 8,000 traders from various parts of the country.
The event kick-started with a welcome address by Rajneesh Khattar, senior director, energy and construction portfolio, Informa Markets India. He emphasized on the state’s growing significance in the renewable energy sector.
R Chellappan, managing director of Swelect energy systems, T Sathish Kumar, CMD of Milky Mist, Ashok, president of the Tamil Nadu solar energy developers association, N Pradeep, president of the Tamil Nadu electricity consumers association, and Raguram Arjunan, president of the sustainability and energy practitioners association addressed the gathering. 
The discussion revolved around scaling solar energy adoption, policy reforms, and the role of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Tamil Nadu’s commercial and industrial sectors.
Arjunan highlighted the need for streamlined approvals, better financing options, and greater awareness about central government schemes including PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, which remains underutilized due to implementation challenges.
The upcoming RenewX 2025 will feature a dedicated bio-energy pavilion, along with factory visits, workshops, and the Solar Installer Premier League (SIPL). The event is backed by major renewable energy associations including TNSEDA, KREEPA, KRESMA, and T-SEA, along with the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce.
