A 3-day exhibition celebrating ancient Tamil pride and history was inaugurated by Housing Minister S Muthusamy at Parimalam Mahal, Erode today. Tamilaga Pengal Seyarkalam and and Tamilaran Students Organization are holding this exhibition for16th year in succession in various districts of TN. The administrators of the Expo, Thamizhisai, Yazhini and Thamarai said: The exhibition has pictures on the history of Tamil Nadu from the beginning of the world to the British period, thousands of year old musical instruments, ancient Tamizhar objects, coins, Keezhadi, Adichanallur objects, dance and play, sports, music festivals and goods and artefacts, painting festival food festival, 64 arts, ancient books, district specialties, herbal expo, Siddha medical camp, rare old silambam mallar kambam materials, Tamil signature campaign etc. Also there are various rare scenes reminiscent of Tamil tradition. About 100 working women and 1000 students, out of their own fund, organised the Expo without any profit motive. There is no entry fee to the Expo. The women who conduct the exhibition are in various fields and followers of late Tamil scholar Perumchithiranar in propgating Tamil. People from different districts. They have collected the materials for the expo in many places. It is conducted in every district every year. The exhibition is held to inculcate Tamil consciousness among Tamils and help them know their history, tradition and culture. Prizes are awarded to the students who answer the questions based on the information given in the exhibition. It would be more fruitful if the Tamil Nadu government helps the expo to conduct it in large scale every year in various towns.
