Annual Oration of Dr. Rajammal P. Devadas held

 Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women observed the 22nd Annual Oration of Dr. Rajammal. P. Devadas and celebrated World Health Day on April 7.

Dr. Rajammal P. Devadas Annual Oration Award was instituted in the year 1999 by the Avinashilingam Education Trust Institutions and Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore, to commemorate the 80th birthday of Dr. Rajammal P. Devadas, the mentor and architect of Avinashilingam Institutions. 

Dr. T.S.K. Meenakshisundaram Managing Trustee, The Avinashilingam Education Trust and Chancellor, spoke about the award and he fondly recalled the development of the Institute under the leadership of Amma Avargal. She was the embodiment of self-less service, dedication and hard work. 

Prof. Dr. V.G. Mohan Prasad, Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist & Therapeutic Endoscopist, Chairman VGM Hospital, Coimbatore received the Oration Award  by the Chancellor & delivered the lecture on “The Exploding Epidemic of Obesity in India! Be the Catalyst for Change!!.”

 In his oration lecture, Prof. Dr. V.G. Mohan Prasad, shared his memories with Ayya avargal and Amma Avargal. 

In connection with World Health Day, Competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed on the occasion.

Dr. S. Amsamani, Dean, School of Home science, Avinashilingam Institute for Home science and Higher Education for Women welcomed the gathering and Dr. S. Kowsalya, Registrar, proposed the Vote of Thanks.
