Apollo Hospitals formed team for emergency Aortic Aneurysm & Dissection Surgery

Apollo Hospitals have formed a core team with cardiac surgeon, Interventional Cardiologist, Vascular surgeon, Radiologist and Emergency room doctors to deal with major Aortic pathologies and provide 24/7 emergency treatment with good patient outcome, said Dr.M.M Yusuf, consultant cardiothoracic surgeon, Apollo Hospitals.

In his speech at the Management of Aortic Aneurysm & Dissection Surgery conclave 2022, Dr.Yusuf said, “Arotic aneurysms commonly occur in middle age and in the elderly population. 
Aortic aneurysm is the term used to describe bulging of the major blood vessel (Aorta) which if not treated can lead to complete tear of the aorta. 

Aortic dissection is a condition where there is a tear within the layers of the aorta and is impending rupture. 
Aortic dissection is an emergency warranting immediate surgery to save the patient’s life. Management Aortic Aneurysm & Dissection is an advanced specialty in cardiovascular surgery where Multidisciplinary team approach is vital to provide a good outcome.”

The Institute of Aortic Surgery and dissection surgery was inaugurated during this conclave by Ms. Preetha Reddy, Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Group. National and international experts from across India and the globe  shared thoughts, applications, and advances in aortic and vascular surgery.
