Assembly Estimates Committee concludes 2 day Review of Govt. Schemes in Salem District

The Tamilnadu Assembly Committee concluded its two day visit to Salem District and reviewed a number schemes planned, on-going schemes, their level of implementation and resources utilized.
On Wednessday the team lead by its Chairman T.R.P Raja visited the Anna Park a public amusement park in Salem City and reviewed the works being undertaken at cost of Rs.5.40 crore under the Smart City Project.  Concrete platforms, rain water harvesting structures and painting works are the works currently underway in Anna Park.

At Pallapatti the team reviewed the work underway in Pallapatti Lake at an estimate of Rs.12.80 crore. Laying of stone paths on the lake’s bank, wire fencing, drainage purification plant, installation of lights on the lake’s bund are some of the works underway. 
They later reviewed the over bridge construction between Magnesiteand Omalur railway stations and the widening of the 4 lane National Highway at a cost of Rs.144.63 crore. The committee members planted tree saplings in the project area.At MecheriPanchayat Union the committee members reviewed the road laying work between Kamanur village via Semanur under Prime Minister’s Village Road Scheme at a cost of Rs 2.45 crore. At Mecheri the committee members interacted with farmers and gave away prizes to winners of the crop production contest at the district level conducted by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. 
 

They gave away welfare aid worth Rs. 10.54 lakhs. to 32 farmers under the Kalaingar’sAnaithuGramaOrunginainthaVelanValarchiThittam, National Food Security Movement At Salem Collectorate the committee gave away petrol scooters fitted with balancing wheels for 62 differently abled persons each coasting Rs.78,850 and special vehicles to 8 cerebral palsy victims each costing Rs 99,777.00. 
Following this the committee had sitting with officials of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Environment and Climate Change and Forest Departments. They reviewed the ongoing projects and their estimates.

Dr.AlinSuneja, District Revenue Officer and C.Balachander, Additional Collector (Development).R.Rajenderan, Salem North MLA, MLAS from other constituencies in the district and elected representatives of Cooperative Societies.
