On a special meeting organized in Annamalai University (AU), Chidambaram, Mr. Scott Hartmann,Cultural Affairs Officer, US Consulate, Chennai and Ms. Brindha Balachandran, Education and English Language Coordinator, interacted with the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Deans and Syndicate Members of AU.
Dr.RM.Kathiresan, Vice-Chancellor (VC), AU, made a presentation about the AU, highlighting the various academic and research programmes and international collaborations. The Officers from US Consulate General explained about the Fulbright Fellowships and other opportunities for higher learning and research in US universities for the faculty members and students.
Mr.Scott Hartmann opined that the faculty members can explore the immense potential for research in areas such as Climate Change, Sustainability, and Women empowerment.There were discussions on student exchange programmes in Agriculture that enables on farm participatory learning covering both intensive and extensive agricultural practices.
The VC invited them to provide their advisory services to the students of AU who are in pursuit of their higher studies in the US. In this meeting the VC expressed his interest to explore possibilities for collaborations to teach Tamil language, Music, and Dance for the Indian diaspora in the US.
