Automatic Manjapai dispenser introduced to reduce plastic usage at Coimbatore

To reduce the use of plastic bags, an automatic Manjapai (traditional yellow cloth bag) dispensing machine was inaugurated today at the Municipal PRS complex on Avinashi Road by Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan. This initiative, led by the Coimbatore City Police Department, aims to encourage the public to opt for eco-friendly alternatives.
During the inauguration, policemen and their families demonstrated the use of the machine by inserting a 10-rupee coin to receive a Manjapai. In addition to this, Commissioner Balakrishnan also inaugurated a drinking water purification machine on the premises.
The event was attended by Coimbatore Deputy Commissioner of Police Saravanakumar, Assistant Commissioner of Armed Forces Shekhar, other policemen, and their families, marking a significant step towards promoting sustainability within the community.
