Avinashilingam Memorial Day observed

Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women and Sri Avinashilingam Education Trust Institutions observed its founder Dr. T.S. Avinashilingam's  31st memorial day on Nov 21. Dr Premavathy Vijayan, former Vice Chancellor, of the Institute, was the chief guest.

Dr. V. Bharathi Harishankar, Vice Chancellor, welcomed the gathering. Dr. T. S. K. Meenakshisundaram, managing trustee, lauded that Ayya’s unwavering effort and attention were directed towards improving the state, its future generations, particularly the underprivileged and impoverished. Dr. Premavathy Vijayan, the chief guest and also an alumna of the institution shared her memories when Ayya served as Chancellor. 

Prof. S.P. Thyagarajan, Chancellor of the Institute, enlightened the gathering about the spiritual and cultural values that Ayya uphold.  Dr. Kulandaivel, ex-chancellor and trustee of the institute, said that Ayya’s life itself was his message to society. Dr. Gowri Ramakrishnan, Assistant Managing Trustee presided and Dr. S. Kowsalya, Registrar, proposed a vote of thanks.
