Avinashalingam Institute for Home Science and Higher education for Women, Coimbatore,
has signed a 3 year Memorandum of Understanding with Collaborative Healthcare Foundation, Florida USA, to work together to enhance the accessibility of health care services in remote areas and make a sustainable change in the community.
Avinashilingam University carries a rich heritage in Community service and outreach activities through NSS and CSS Programmes which has been a part of the undergraduate curriculum for several decades. The Foundation, a tax-exempt non-profit organization, works to eradicate the negative outcomes endured by underprivileged individuals through early health intervention that allows for quicker action and preventing long-term complications.
The MOU provides an opportunity to facilitate support in extension activities pertaining to healthcare research, support implementation, monitoring and outcome evaluation of Government supported health care intervention programmes and to initiate relevant joint community development activities.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Chancellor Prof. S.P. Thyagarajan, by Dr.V Bharathi Harishankar, Vice Chancellor, and Mrs Uma Kasi, Vice President, Collaborative Healthcare Foundation. Dr S Kowsalya, Registrar and Deans of various Schools of the institute were also present.
