‘Ranger’ V Ra Swetha Gayathri, who is a student of Bharathidasan University, presented a rakhi that was imprinted with Thirukural about the excellence of Army to General Manoj Pande, chief of army staff, in a grand ceremony that took place at Defence headquarters in New Delhi.
She also presented a copy of Thirukural and explained about it. The chief thanked her for preparing more than 2000 rakhis every year for the soldiers and appreciated her efforts.
Swetha is a girl Scout leader and an active contributor of a nation-wide programme - ‘#RakhisForSoldiers and #SistersForJawans’ – under which rakhis and other gifts were sent to soldiers every year. She has also received appreciation from former chief of defence staff General Bipin Rawat a few years ago.
She thanked Vice-Chancellor Vinod Kumar and other staff for motivating and supporting her.
