BJP opposes construction of Government Arts College on Temple land

BJP executives led by north district president Advocate KR Kalaivani Vijayakumar and general secretary Uthrasamy today petitioned to the Collector to abandon the construction of a government arts college on the land of Andhiur Bhatrakaliyamman temple owned by the HR and CE Department and shift it to another location.

The land is in Tavittpalayam area where Department of Education tried to build the college. Madras High Court has already ordered not to use temple land for any other purpose other than temple use.

BJP is not opposing the college. But, using temple land is considered contempt of court.  BJP's policy is to provide quality education to the poor.

There is lot of suitable government land in the area. So, the government should come forward to use it. Tamil Nadu Rural Development and Panchayat Department Director directed Village Panchayat Secretary or MGNREGS field incharge to create whattsapp grops under the MGNREGS  in every panchayat in which Panchayat Ward Member to Member of Parliament and local people should be included. Attendance of workers under the MGNREGS works should be registered in it to prevent malpractice.

But, that procedure is not followed in Erode district. The Collector should take appropriate action to implement this order in all panchayats, they pleaded.
