BJP threatens stir against irrigation pipe breaking incident

BJP agriculture wing will stage a stir if the Chinnamanur ryots problem is not resolved immediately, said the wing president G.K. Nagaraj. In a statement, he said that around 200 meters away from the bank of the river in Chinnamanur area in  Theni, 42 ryots dug bore wells on their land at their own expense and carried water through pipes to more than 3000 acre in the areas of Kanniservaipatti, Odaipatti Veppampatti, Muthalapuram, Kamachipuram as per Government Order 142 (PWD.GO-2014).

But, some persons did anarchy with the help of government officials by breaking the irrigation pipes and covering them with concrete so that they cannot be reconnected.  So, 3,000 acres of agricultural land would become fallow due to the hostility of some individuals to all the farmers.

Though farmers association leader P. R. Pandian went into the field and released a video, he left the farmers into lurch without solving the problem till date.  He spoke in the farmers' protest, blaming the Highways Department officials and Theni District Collector for the pipe break incident without solving the problem till date. If it is brought to the attention of the Chief Minister, he will find a solution  immediately.

Neither the ministers nor the Chief Minister is responsible for this, he added.   Such farmers union leaders are loyal to the rulers rather than to the ryots.  The BJP agriculture team is closely monitoring the situation of the farmers of Chinnamanur. It is ready to fight if the problem of the farmers is resolved soon, he added.
