Chief Minister MK Stalin is likely to felicitate winners of state-level ‘Kalai Thiruvizha’ contest at Nehru indoor stadium in the city on January 12.Aiming to bring out the hidden talent of students, the school education department has been organizing the contest every year.
State-level contest
As a part of the contest, the department has been providing art-related training to students from class VI to IX studying in government middle, high and higher secondary schools and organized art contests for students in classes between VI and XII. This year, the state-level contest is scheduled to take place from December 27 to 30 in five districts. All competitions for classes VI to VIII would be conducted in Madurai district and all competitions for classes IX to X would be organized in Coimbatore district.
For classes XI and XII, fine arts, drama and language skill competitions would be organized in Thiruvallur, music, instrumental music and music confluence competitions would be organized in Kancheepuram district and dance competition would be organized in Chengalpattu district.Students who have secured top three places in district-level contests would take part in the state-level contest and they would be brought to the venue by their respective school teachers.
