The 57th Raising Day celebrations of the Central Industrial Security Force were held at the CISF camp in Kalpakkam town of Chengalpattu district on Wednesday.
The CISF personnel are engaged in providing security to major nuclear establishments in Kalpakkam, including the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, the Madras Atomic Power Station, the Bhavini Fast Breeder Reactor Project and the Kalpakkam Atomic Reprocessing Plant.
Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research Director Srikumar Pillai and CISF Deputy Commandant Ravi Bhushan Pakhariya attended the event as special guests and received the ceremonial parade presented by CISF personnel.
During the programme, members of the CISF Special Task Force demonstrated various combat skills, including handling an AK-47 rifle blindfolded, loading cartridges and clearing the weapon.
The CISF Dog Squad also performed a series of demonstrations. Dogs named Bruce, Leo, Max and Rocky showcased their training in handling dangerous situations and responding to commands given by their handlers.
In a notable moment, the dog Leo presented a bouquet to the director of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, drawing applause from the gathering.
The dog squad later performed several exercises, including high jumps and passing through a ring of fire, demonstrating their readiness to respond to emergencies and ensure the safety of the nuclear facility. CISF personnel and officials participated in large numbers in the event.
