CM inaugurates 244 newly built houses in Sri Lankan Tamils's camps in Salem Dt

In a ceremony held at Melmonavur, Vellore district on Sunday (September 16), Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin opened 1591 houses at a cost of Rs.79.70 crore in 19 Sri Lankan Tamil Rehabilitation Camps in 13 districts.
  In Salem District, 244 houses have been constructed at a cost of Rs.13.22 crore. The government is also providing other basic facilities at a cost of Rs.11.33 crore in 19 camps in the 13 districts. . The Pavalthanur camp, Athikattanur camp and Krasspatti camp have been combined and 20 houses in Thammapatti camp have been constructed.

The new homes will provide a safe, dignified, and improved life for the 58,272 people living in the camps. The Sri Lankan Refugee Camp will be renamed the Sri Lankan Tamil Rehabilitation Camp. Welfare schemes such as monthly stipends, clothes, utensils, and educational assistance will be provided to the Sri Lankan Tamils living in the camps. The first phase of the project will involve 3510 new houses, allocated Rs.176.02 crore.
