CM lays foundation for Rs 300 cr library project at Coimbatore

Chief Minister Mr. M.K.Stalin today laid the foundation stone for constructing Thanthai  Periyar Library and Science Center at a cost of Rs.300 crores at Anupparlayam Village, Coimbatore North, Coimbatore District. 
In the 2024-25 Budget, it was said that a huge library and science center will be set up in Coimbatore to further stimulate the thirst of knowledge among the people of Coimbatore, especially the younger generation, which will not only have world-class books, journals, magazines and internet resources, but also various fields like aerospace, mechanical engineering, virtual appearance, natural science. It was announced that facilities related to science and engineering departments would be established. Accordingly, 6.98 acre belonging to the Jail (Coimbatore North, Anupparlayam Village) was selected to build 1.98 lakh sq ft area with ground and seven floors. 
The center has an auditorium and science center on the ground floor, a science center on the first floor, a children's library on the second floor and for competitive examinations library, disabled library and Chief Librarian's Office on the third floor, Tamil Book Section and Home Reading Section on the fourth floor, Tamil Book Section and Incubation Center on the fifth floor, Periodicals and Incubation Center on the sixth floor, Science Center, English Book Section and Digital Library on the seventh floor. 
The project will be completed by January 2026. In this event,  Municipal Administration Minister Mr. K.N. Nehru,  Minister of Public Works Mr. A.V.
