CM MK Stalin will inaugurate the 18th Erode Book Festival, arranged by an NGO- Makkal Sindhanai Peravai, through online at 5 pm on August 5 and deliver his inaugural address, said Peravai president lawyer T Stalin Gunasekaran.
He said it will be held at Erode CN College till Aug 16. The fair was not held for the past 2 years due to corona. It is being held on the 24th year of the Peravai.
In 230 stalls, lakhs of English and Tamil Books will be displayed with giving special price
discount for books. In the evenings of all days, great scholars' literary meetings will be held.
In the fair, GD Naidu Award for young scientist will be given with cash prize of Rs 1 lakh on July 8. All government related publishers including TN Textbooks Society,
World Tamil Research Centre, Tamil University etc besides national and international publishers would attend.
The fair will have separate book release function daily and also World Tamil Writers Arangam.
Collector and Chief Education Officer's help was also sought to highlight the features of the fair among students in prayers.
There is no entry fee for the fair.
On July 9, scholars of 10 nations will visit, interact with local scholars and address among public, he added.
