CM to launch health walk scheme on Nov 4: Min

Health minister Ma Subramanian on Monday said that Chief Minister MK Stalin would inaugurate the health walk scheme on November 4.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the health walk tracks in Chennai, the minister said, “Health walk tracks for a length of eight kilometers will be inaugurated in all the 38 districts on November 4. 
The scheme will be kick-started by the Chief Minister at Besant Nagar in Chennai. Similar tracks in other districts will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister virtually.”
He said that Besant Nagar Avenue roads have been made motor free between 5 am and 8 am to ensure that people use the roads for walking, and on the first Sunday of every month, health camps would be organized near the tracks.
“Following the Covid-19 pandemic, cardiovascular diseases have increased among youngsters and fatalities due to the diseases have also increased. So, it is important to incorporate walking and exercising in our daily life,” he said.
Pointing out that 5,600 people were diagnosed with dengue and of which, five died in the last ten months, he said that the prevalence of dengue would increase in the upcoming November and December months. “At present, 490 people are undergoing treatment at hospitals for dengue. Monsoon special camps will be organized from October 29 to December 31,” he added.Health walk track has been set up from Muthulakshmi Reddy Park via Besant Nagar beach and Velankanni church. Saplings were planted near the track.
