The Chief Minister MK Stalin will visit Erode on August 4 or 5 to launch various completed projects, inaugurate new projects, and distribute government benefits to over 30000 persons, said housing minister S Muthusamy.
Distributing loan application forms to many differently abled persons at a function held at the collectorate on Wednesday evening, he said the CM was going to inaugurate 145 projects and the number of beneficiaries would further rise. The CM office would announce the exact date of his visit. His public function would be held at the upcoming new Central Bus Stand site of 20 acre near Solar, Erode and was going to attend a book fair at the Erode CN College and also unveil the statue of former CM Karunanidhi at TN Palayam.
Layer, in response to various questions of newsmen, he said the Chief Minister has already announced government college status for Erode CN college.
A bill was passed in this regard and sent for President's accent. In the College, a sports academy would come up. Fund was received for maintaining the already constructed TNHB houses at Alagarasan Nagar, Erode and fund was sought to maintain similar houses at Odaipallam and Periyar Nagar.
Once the work was completed, the houses would be handed over to allottees.
Denying the charge of BJP state president Annamalai that lakhs of old age pension benefits were cancelled in the state, he said that the benefits for some persons were cancelled for not fulfilling the required norms of the scheme. If the eligible beneficiaries were hit, they can submit petitions which could be considered.
The Chief Minister has fulfilled many poll promises within a year and the remaining promises would be fulfilled within a year.
As promised, he would hike the benefits under the old age pension and diffables pension scheme, he added. Collector Krishnanunni, MP Anthiyur Selvaraj MLAs AG Venkatachalam, Thirumagan Evara and many officials attended the function.
