CM urged to check Mekedadu Dam project

CM urged to check Mekedadu Dam project

TMC youth wing state president M Yuvaraja urged the CM to quit Congress alliance and join hands with other opposition parties to check Karnataka's Mekedadu dam project and thus protect the interests of ryots of TN.
In a release, he said D.K Sivakumar, who has taken charge as Deputy Chief Minister and Water Resources Minister of Karnataka State, said that we will build the dam, which is one of our election promises, and we will fulfill it. The Dam issue has been raging between TN and Karnataka for many years.

What Sivakumar has said has caused a great distress to our ryots. Karnataka's plan would deny TN's rights on Cauvery and reduce water flow to TN.  It is against federalism, contrary to the judgments of the Supreme Court and all laws and rules related to Cauvery.

The Union Ministry of Environment has not yet approved the dam project. The DMK leadership sent a circular to the Karnataka State DMK members to work for the victory of Congress Party in Karnataka. Does the DMK not know the Congress' election promise to build the Dam? Why didn't the DMK ask the Congress not to take any effort to build the dam before expressing support? Its support to Congress there is a betrayal of the farmers of TN who depend on Cauvery.

When TN Chief Minister participated in the swearing-in ceremony of the Karnataka CM, he said that everything said in the election manifesto,( including the Dam), will be fulfilled.
Why he didn't condemn  this dam project at that time itself? Now the ryots feared whether the interest of TN in the dam project would be sacrificed on the line of sacrificing Katchatheevu by DMK, he felt.
