A meeting was held to strengthen inspection and security measures at checkpoints in Coimbatore, with the aim of monitoring the movement of money, liquor bottles, and drugs. Present at the meeting were district collectors, police officers, forest officers, and officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau. Notable attendees included Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, Palakkad District Collector Chithra, Thrissur District Collector Krishnan Teja, Coimbatore Superintendent of Police Badrinarayanan, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabakaran, as well as representatives from the forest department and NCB.
Specifically, checkpoints along the Kerala and Tamil Nadu border in Coimbatore, such as Aanaikatti, Maangarai, Mulli, and Walayar, have been instructed to heighten security checks to detect cash, liquor bottles, drugs, and other prohibited items ahead of the elections. Similar instructions have been issued to checkpoints in Kerala districts including Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Idukki. The meeting also entailed discussions on establishing special teams to oversee operations at these checkpoints.
