Coimbatore Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar inaugurated a polio vaccination camp at the Seethalakshmi Primary Health Centre in Coimbatore on Sunday. The camp is part of a nationwide pulse polio vaccination initiative aimed at immunising children below 5 years of age to keep polio at bay.
Throughout the day, numerous children received oral polio drops at 351 camps established across the district. A total of 1482 volunteers from various government departments participated in the vaccination drive to ensure its smooth execution. Mobile teams were also deployed to administer polio drops to children in public places. Deputy Mayor Vetriselvan was present at the event to oversee the proceedings.
