Collector H Krishnanunny inaugurated the Flag Day fund collection drive for ex-servicemen welfare on Flag Day which is observed on 7th December every year across the country at the Collectorate.Last year's Flag Day fund collection target for Erode district was Rs.1 crore 36 lakh 76 thousand.
But, Rs 1 crore 49 lakh 35 thousand have been mobilised from public whic is Rs. 1 crore more than the target set by the government (109.2 percent). The Collector appreciated all the officers for the achievement. This year's target is Rs.1 crore 44 lakh 47 thousand for Erode district and Rs.4 lakh 39 thousand for Erode Corporation.
He appealed to the public to donate funds generously for ex-servicemen welfare. He handed over 30 gram silver medal and certificate given by Chief Secretary to those who collected more than Rs.3 lakhs in 2019 and certificates to officers who collected more than Rs.1 lakh 50 thousand on Flag Day in 2021.
In order to remember and appreciate the selfless service of the three armed forces, he arranged a tea party for the ex-servicemen and their families and distributed Rs 5.87 lakh education scholarship to 23 persons, spectacles purchase aid of Rs.43448 to 8 persons and Rs 28000 to one person as cancer relief fund. District Revenue Officer Santoshini Chandra and many officials attended.
