Collector warns gudka traders with stern action

Collector H Krishnanunni warned traders selling banned gudka, nicotine and tobacco products with stern action and closure of shops. Keeping and selling such goods, producing and transporting them were already banned. So far,  Rs 5000 was slapped as fine for first offence, Rs 10000 for second, Rs 25000 for third offence with cancellation of FSSAI licence. If a trader has over 2 kg banned products, case will be registered under section 59.

As sales of such good continued, the shop will be  closed  even for first offence by obtaining order from commissioner of food safety. If an FIR is registered against a trader for the offence, a case would also be registered under Section 59 of FSSAI Act as per the SC order. Public can lodge complaints regarding selling of banned tobacco and nicotine mixed food items to 94440 42322. The information will be kept as secret, he added.
