Corpn invites public view on new bus stand project

Erode Corporation has invited public view on its new central bus stand project on Karur Road at Solar, Erode.The officials said that of 52 acre land of Corporation there, 20 acre would be earmarked for the bus stand where bus bays for 63 mofussil buses and 9 town buses would be created with 163 shops, toilet, taxi, auto stand,  passengers rest room etc in the bus stand. 

The total project  cost is Rs 63.50 cr including Rs 15 cr loan. The cost would go up-to Rs 100 cr. The tenders for the project work will be issued after 3 weeks. The bus stand is specially for buses coming from southern districts via Karur. From the bus stand town and mini buses would be operated to various areas of Erode town and surrounding areas. 

The new bus stand construction work would take at least 2-3 years. 
Till that period, a temporary bus stand would function to prepare people to use the place where rest room for bus crews,  public toilets and shops etc would be built.  

Of 60 percent of buses coming to Erode, 60 percent came from southern districts. Besides, 13.5 acre private land would be bought at Sathy Road, Ganiravutharkulam, Erode to create another bus stand at a cost of Rs 70 cr. The Collector wrote to the government seeking fund to buy the land there. It would accommodate 70 buses coming from Sathy and Gobi. 

Similarly, another bus stand would be created at Perundurai to accommodate buses coming from Coimbatore and Tirupur. Public can send their suggestions to the Corporation on the projects which could reduce traffic congestion in the heart of Erode town where the present bus stand was functioning, they hoped.
