The corporation commissioner M Prathap on Friday directed his officials to remove the encroachment and repair the roads immediately at Rangasamy Naidu NAgar near Kuniyamuthur in the city.
The commissioner was inspecting the works carried out to clean storm water drains at the locality. He further directed the officials to remove the stagnant water at Kuniyamuthur to Palakkad road near Edayarpalayam and to renovate storm water drains at Balu garden.
He then interacted with residents to understand their grievances related to water distribution at Balu garden and inspected the door-to-door collection of waste at Vinayagar Kovil street. He asked sanitary workers to create awareness about the importance of waste segregation among the public. The commissioner inspected desludge works carried out at a canal in EB colony near Kovaipudur and road lying work carried out at the cost of Rs 51.74 lakhs.
Inspecting a corporation school in Kuniyamuthur, he directed the engineers to prepare a detailed project report to construct additional classes and toilets at the school. He was accompanied by deputy mayor Vetriselvan, south zone chairman Dhanalakshmi, councillors Senthilkumar and Ilansekaran, and assistant commissioner Annadurai, assistant executive engineer Karupusami, zonal health officer Ramu and other officials.
