'Councillors not invited to CM's function'

The Chief Minister participated in a government function on August 26 near Perundurai  in which he inaugurated many projects of the Erode Corporation, but the members of the civic body  were not invited to the function, complained Congress member Saboorama Jafar Sadiq  in the Erode corporation council meeting held on Tuesday. 

Mayor Nagarathnam Subramaniam presided and corporation chief engineer Maduram  and officials attended the meeting. Deputy Mayor Selvaraj responded to the complaint stating that DMK ward and zone leaders were informed about the Chief Minister's visit.

The members saud  all members of Coimbatore corporation were invited by the civic body  to the Chief Minister's function there. Then the members said the Chief Minister has inaugurated the new building of Gani Textile Market in Erode. So, the encroachments around it should be removed. Only then the traders of the market and civic body will benefit.Kumbabishekam is going to be held for Kottai Iswaran temple on Sept 8. So, the area around it should be cleaned and roads should be maintained.

Mayor and officials have responded to many requests of the members by stating that on Periyar's birthday, Periyar's portrait will be placed in the Erode Corporation meeting hall.The budget  of the next financial year will be provided to the members by  March.  The financial statements of the current financial year will be provided to the members if they sought.

The dogs will be sterilized according to the Animal Welfare Board norms to control stray dog menace. But, as per the government rules, the work should be done under the supervision of an approved NGO. So, once the NGO is selected, the sterilisation work will commence.  

If necessary, the dogs can be operated with the help of the Veterinary Hospital and Namakkal Veterinary College. Steps will be taken to involve more cleaning staff in the special cleaning work to be carried out on Saturdays, they added.
