Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Rajagopal Sunkara on Wednesday inaugurated a six-day crafts expo ‘Crafts Bazaar’ organised by the Craft Council of Tamilnadu (CCTN) at Suguna Kalyana Mandapam, Avinashi Road. Office bearers of the Craft Council of Tamilnadu, members and exhibitors were present during the inauguration.
Crafts Council of Tamil Nadu (CCTN) is a 35-year-old NGO working for the upliftment of Craftsmen in Tamil Nadu.
It is affiliated with the Crafts Council of India, Chennai, which in turn is affiliated with the World Crafts Council. CCTN has been associated in product development with stone craftsmen, palm leaf craft craftsmen and sheet metal craftsmen.
CCTN through this bazaar aims to provide a platform for artisans (Both textiles and handicrafts) from all over India to exhibit and sell their products. “This Craft Bazaar translates into action our main objective of existence, which is to showcase crafts and give a free platform for craftsmen to exhibit their wares to a large customer/consumer base.
This year there are over 100 stalls from various parts of India,” said an official communication from the organisation. It has been announced that all the stalls in the expo would accept all debit/credit cards / UPI.
The expo will be open from 10.30 am to 8 pm from April 6 to April 11 in which an array of crafts such as textiles, apparel, accessories, footwear, handcrafted jewellery, gifts, etc., made out of various materials would be put up for sale.
