India has always been known for its wide variety of cuisine. 140 dishes from the 28 states were the highlight of ‘The Great Indian Kitchen Carnival 2023’ held at AJK College of Arts and Science today. Cultural programs and a fashion show were other highlights of the glittering evening.
Dr.Ajeeth Kumar Lal Mohan, Secretary of the college addressing the media on the occasion said that this was the 10th edition of Kitchen Carnival. He stated that food varieties from the 28 states of India was the theme of the event this year. He mentioned that the specialty of the event organized by the department of hotel management and catering science of AJK College of Arts and Science is that it is conducted by the students. He pointed out that usually food festivals are conducted in colleges with students participating, but in Kitchen Carnival 2023 the general public also participated enthusiastically.
According to Dr. Ajeeth Kumar Lal Mohan, around 3000 people in total participated in the food festival held today. The highlight of the evening were the 140 dishes prepared, which ranged from salads, to mocktails, main dishes and sweets, to mention only some. A counter for micro greens was another highlight of the event.
The wide variety of food items at the food festival included delicacies such as ‘Urulai Varuval’ – Tamil Nadu, ‘Seppu Vada’ ( Dal vada in spinach gravy) – Himachal Pradesh, ‘Nilgiri Kormah’ – Tamil Nadu, ‘Dum Aloo’- Kashmir, Charchari – West Bengal,’ Laal Mass’- Rajasthan, ‘Chepala Pulusu’ – Andhra Pradesh,’ Hyderabad Biryani’ – Telengana, ‘Korri Gassi’ – Karnataka, ‘ Paneev Makhni’- Punjab, ‘Mirchi ka salan’ – Hyderabad, and ‘Ennai Kathirikai’. – Tamil Nadu, to mention only a few.
A variety of cultural programs entertained the audience as they enjoyed the variety of mouthwatering dishes at the event. A fashion show from the students showcasing dresses from the 28 states of the country was another highlight of the glitzy event.
