CVC plea to withdraw Aavin milk price hike

CVC plea to withdraw Aavin milk price hike

Increase in Pink Milk packet  price by Rs. 12/- for Aavin milk  Citizens’ Voice Coimbatore (CVC) appealed to the CM and Dairy Development Minister to reconsider the Aavin milk price.

In a letter, CVC president C.M. Jayaraman    and secretary V.A.Shanmugham said the recent decision to increase the price of Pink milk sachet with extra price will affect not only the hoteliers but also the common man. The public apprehend that in the long run, availability of toned milk (blue) and standard milk (green cover) will be substantially reduced and they will be forced to buy only pink milk sachets at increased cost of Rs. 12/- per litre.

The increase will force the hoteliers and tea shops to hike the tea price steeply and put enormous burden on the common man.
Hence, it is essential that the government withdraw the hike announced and make people relieved of their financial difficulties.

Earlier, when the Government announced free bus travel for women in local buses, the Transport Department reduced the number of ordinary buses which resulted in the men folk to travel in deluxe/ express buses at an exorbitant fare.
This is totally a burdensome step and the same has been brought to the notice of the government by the public.

Keeping this in mind, we urge the government to reduce the increased milk price to alleviate the sufferings of common men and give some relief to poor and downtrodden. This is important in the background of increased burden on Electricity tariff, property tax revision and hike in water consumption charges.
