The DMK headquarters has directed its party MLAs not to speak against the Tamil Nadu Governor in the assembly. The direction was given during a meeting organized by the party headquarters with its MLAs at Anna Arivalayam on Tuesday.
The direction comes at a time when the Governor has been striking a controversy after another by omitting references related to ‘Tamil Nadu’ and ‘Dravidian model’ in his customary speech that marks the commencement of the first session of assembly session and by referring to himself as ‘Thamizhaga Aalunar’ (Thamizhaga Governor) rather than as Tamil Nadu Governor.
Chief Minister MK Stalin passed a resolution against the Governor for not delivering the customary speech that was prepared by the state government and approved him. Relaxing the House norms, the Chief Minister passed the resolution to include only the approved text of speech and the Tamil translation read by speaker Appavu in the House proceedings and not to include the Governor’s speech in the proceedings.
This had prompted the Governor to leave the assembly midway followed by his secretary and the staff. At this time, the DMK leaders had directed their party MLAs not to speak against the Governor in the assembly.
