Dr. Paul Dinakaran unveils museum of patented research products at KITS

Unbox, a museum of exhibits of patented research products was inaugurated by Chancellor of Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences (KITS), Dr. Paul Dhinakaran.
According to an official media release from the institution Unbox is intended to inspire, motivate and introduce more students and faculty members to invention and innovation leading to incubation and start-ups to fulfil the goals of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. The museum displays twenty of the novel inventions/innovations by Karunya in the field of electrical vehicles, space technologies, medical instruments, ergonomic interventions, flexible antennas, desalination, COVID products, robotics, etc. Among these exhibits, the innovative Specnoscope is meant to diagnose cervical cancer; Flexible Antenna, a wearable device helps in receiving and transmitting signals from the human body; the ergonomic chair automatically adjusts the armrest and seat pan height to suit those involved in IT profession.


Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences (KITS), Coimbatore has filed around 100 patents several of which have been granted. Most of these products are in the thrust areas of research of KITS, having societal importance, namely water, food, healthcare and sustainable energy. 


Trustee Mr. Samuel Dhinakaran, Vice-Chancellor Dr. P. Mannar Jawahar, spoke on the occassion.   The ‘UNBOX’ has been opened to the public from April 12, 2022. Interested visitors may send their enquiries to unbox@karunya.edu and fix an appointment for their visit.
