EPS reiterates his stand on ending alliance with BJP

Former Chief Minister and AIADMK’s general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday reiterated the party’s stand on ending its alliance with the BJP.

Speaking to reporters, EPS said, “I have already announced our decision regarding ending our alliance with the BJP. The decision was taken based on the interest of two crore party cadres. The AIADMK alliance will win in all the 40 constituencies in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the upcoming election. In the previous assembly election, we lost in marginal differences in many constituencies.”

Pointing out that the DMK made 550 election promises, he said that in the last 2.5 years ever since the DMK formed the government in the state, they have not fulfilled even 2% of their promises though they claim to have fulfilled about 95% of the promises.

“The state deputy general secretary of the BJP VP Duraisamy’s statement on their efforts to renew alliance with the AIADMK is his personal statement and it has nothing to do with us. You will have to wait to know the name of the parties that will be included in our alliance. National BJP leaders including Modi, Nadda and Amit Shah did not pressurize the AIADMK in any way and the decision to end our alliance with the BJP was the result of Annamalai’s baseless remark about former Chief Minister Annadurai. We don’t have any demands and it is utterly false that we demanded the removal of Annamalai from the president post,” he added.

“We are confident of forming a good alliance ahead of the 2026 election and winning it. The party can win if party cadres work hard for it. It is impossible to run a political party just with leaders. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s meeting with the AIADMK MLAs has nothing to do on political front,” he explained.
