By providing agricultural machinery and tools to the farmers at a low rent through the e-Rental online application on behalf of the Department of Agricultural Engineering, the Government earned Rs . 2.24 cr, said Erode District Collector Mr. Rajagopal Sunkara.
He said that agricultural mechanization becomes essential due to labour shortage.
So, agricultural machinery and implements are provided to the farmers at low rent through the Department of Agricultural Engineering. Farmers can pre-register agricultural machinery through the e-Rent online app.
Total 26 machines are being let on low rent. From 08.01.2022 to 18.10.2024, 1,694 farmers have benefited from 4421 registrations made through e-rental application. Through this, Rs.2.24 cr has been earned as revenue to the government.
The weeds growing between the coconut trees are being destroyed and used as compost while ploughing the land by using the rotavator machine.
The private agencies charges up to Rs.1000/- per hour for this work. But government rent is Rs.500 only. It is being provided to farmers who book through the e-Rental online app. Under this scheme, Krishnamurthy, a farmer from Thenmugam Vellodu, Perundurai Taluk, got a rotovator that can be operated with a tractor at a low rent and planted coconut on 3 acres of agricultural land.
