Erode Corpn collects 20 tonnes of unwanted goods

The unwanted  material collection bin is placed in front of the Corporation office to check public to burn them in the name of celebrating Bogi festival on Jan 14 which could cause air pollution problem. Dr Prakash, Corporation health officer, said 20 tonnes of such old materials were collected on Monday in the  Erode Corporation area. During the festival, people burn old items, old clothes, tyres etc.

Corporation through loudspeakers

To avoid this, the method of collecting them has been introduced to observe a smoke-free bogi festival.  For this, we are creating awareness in all 60 wards of Erode Corporation through loudspeakers every morning asking people not to burn the old items in the house and throw them in the dustbin. Separate employees have been appointed to collect old materials in 60 wards  for 5 days.

They visit every house during the days from Monday to Friday to collect the goods. We  have placed waste collection bins at 25 important places in all the four zones of the corporation to collect old materials. We are creating awareness in this regard in schools, residential societies and flats for this by appointing 32 staff of Swachh Bharath , he added.
