Erode Corpn temporary workers stage dharna

Temporary workers who have been working in the fields of sanitation, public health and engineering sections in Erode Corporation for many years staged a dharna  in front of the Erode Corporation on Monday. The workers said Tamil Nadu Government has issued orders to the municipalities and corporations to outsource the workers through private companies.

Over 1500 workers are working on daily wage basis and all of them will be affected. So, the protest was held against the government order for privatization. The protestors also besieged the office of the mayor of the corporation and told their demands to the mayor, deputy mayor and commissioner. They expressed their fear that they will be ousted from service and their salary would be reduced.  Their service   should be continued under the present SHG scheme and all of them working for over 10 years be regularised.
