Like the 1972 Dindigul by-poll, held immediately after the launch of the AIADMK, the Erode East by-poll will be a turning point for Tamil Nadu, said former Minister and Gobi MLA K A Sengottaiyan.
Due to the sudden demise of Congress MLA Thirumahan Evera, by-election is going to be held on February 27.
The Congress Party announced yesterday that Thirumahan's father and former Union Minister EVKS Ilangovan is the candidate. The DMK alliance launched the election campaign two days ago in Periyar Nagar under the leadership of ministers KN Nehru and Muthuswamy. DMK campaign was held yesterday in Veerapachatram area. But,the candidate of ADMK has not been announced yet.
Today morning, ADMK leaders, led by Sengottaiyan, conducted a pooja in a land near Erode GH to estalish election office.
