Erode East by-poll will be a turning point for TN: KAS

Like the 1972 Dindigul by-poll, held immediately after the launch of the AIADMK, the Erode East by-poll will be a turning point  for Tamil Nadu, said former Minister and Gobi MLA K A Sengottaiyan.
Due to the sudden demise of Congress MLA Thirumahan Evera, by-election is going to be held on February 27.

The Congress Party announced yesterday that Thirumahan's father and former Union Minister EVKS Ilangovan is the candidate.  The DMK alliance launched the election campaign two days ago in Periyar Nagar under the leadership of ministers KN Nehru and Muthuswamy.  DMK campaign was held yesterday in Veerapachatram area. But,the candidate of ADMK has not been announced yet.

Today morning, ADMK leaders, led by Sengottaiyan,  conducted a pooja in a land near Erode GH to estalish election office.  Then, Sengottaiyan told reporters:  Under the leadership of General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswamy, we will conduct a peaceful election campaign here. He will consult allies and after getting petitions from willing canidates, he will announce the candidate. Now, there has been a change of heart among the people.

Questions from reporters

People's support is for AIADMK. We will prove once again that Erode East is the iron fort of AIADMK.

AIADMK cadres will go door-to-door to collect votes. About the former chief minister OPS's announcement that "he is ready to talk with the EPS team, the two leaves symbol is his own and if we unite, there is life," he said we will win under the leadership of Edappadi.

To a question about the Supreme Court verdict, he said "wait and see. The  is ours. On BJP deputy  president KP Ramalingam's stand he said 'wait and see. EPS will announce the candidate soon'. Asked if the DMK would succeed using the Thirumangalam formula, he said, "That formula did not stop with Thirumangalam.

It continued in many places." Regarding the sympathy wave expected for the Congress candidate due to the death of Mr. Evera, he said, "Erode East Constituency is within a radius of 5 kilometers.  Let's work very well and get a chance to win," he added.
