Four judges assumed charge as additional judges of Madras High Court in the city on Tuesday.
The acting Chief Justice T Raja administered the oath of office to the judges – Ramasamy Sakthivel, P Dhanabal, Chinnasamy Kumarappan and Kandasamy Rajasekar.
The judges, who were working at district Courts, were promoted as the additional judges of the Madras High Court in March.
The advocate general R Shanmugasundaram introduced the newly-appointed additional judges to the gathering.
With the induction of four judges, the working strength of the Court has increased to 64 which includes 48 permanent judges and 16 additional judges.
Justice Dhanabal was a native of Thoranakalpatti in Karuu district. He was born to Pappusammy and Pallaniammal couple.
He completed his studies in Karur and completed his law at Trichy law college.
Justice Sakthivel was born to Ramasamy and Veppayi in 1973 in Karur district.
He completed his studies in Karur and completed his law at Trichy law college in 1997.
Justice Kumarappan was born to Chinnasamy and Thilagam in Sivaganga district.
He finished his law studies at Coimbatore law college in 1996.
Justice Rajasekar was born in 1973. After completing his law studies in 1998, he worked as an advocate with Tamil Nadu bar council and then became a Judge in 2011 through direct examination.
He worked as a Judge with labour court and then as principal judge at Tirunelveli court.
He then worked as a member secretary for Tamil state law commission and as principal judge at Coimbatore court.
