Free saplings to be distributed to ryots

The Department of Agriculture is providing free saplings with an aim to improve the livelihood of farmers and provide sustainable income to them.  In this scheme, saplings like vengai, mahakani, semmaram, perunelli, rosewood, novel, ilupai, tamarind,  are provided. 160 saplings per hectare and a maximum of 320 saplings will be provided for 2 hectares. For intercropping of saplings on agricultural land 100 to 500 saplings will be given per hectare.

Integrated Agricultural Development Plan

Now, as the Northeast Monsoon has intensified, if farmers plant saplings in the fields of their lands, along the banks of streams, they will survive and grow well. Planting saplings increases green cover and prevents global warming.

Farmers can contact their Area Assistant Agriculture Officers with Chitta, Aadhaar, Bank Passbook Copy, Photo or register through Uzhavan App. Also, in this scheme, villages under the All Village Integrated Agricultural Development Plan will be given saplings on priority basis. For more details, Nambiyur Agriculture Extension Center office can be approached in person, Assistant Director of Agriculture Jeevathayalan said.
