Freebie promises: Can BJP shower them in its manifesto?

Speaking at a program held in Bundel Kant, Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Modi had said that free schemes are very dangerous for the development of the country. Debates about free programs followed in the public domain.

When Modi's opinion was opposed by various parties, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin responded by saying, "The social welfare programs for the public should not be suppressed in a narrow bracket as free, but should be taken as the economic revolution that has taken place among the rural poor."

After that Tamil Nadu Finance Minister PalanivelThiagarajan spoke about freebies in the English media which made the entire country sit up and listen. And people like ArvindKejriwal also responded to this comment of Modi.

In this situation, assembly elections have been announced in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat. While the BJP is making serious efforts to win these states, the Himachal Pradesh state manifesto has been announced on behalf of the BJP.

In the election manifesto released by BJP National President J.P Nadda includes promises such as free bicycle to girl students from class 6 to 12 and free scooty to girl students going to higher education.
While senior BJP leader AshwiniUpadhyaya is going to the Supreme Court for banning freebie, Prime Minister Modi has spoken harshly against freebies, now BJP has been showering promises of freebies in the Himachal election which has drawn criticism.

Why can't Prime Minister Modi implement the no-freebie policy even in his own party? This shows that BJP is driven by the need to win elections rather than policy.It is not an exaggeration if we should take this as the BJP's suggestion that the social welfare programs for the public should not be suppressed in a narrow bracket of free. We don't know yet what Prime Minister Modi would say on the matter!
