FSSAI officials seize 103.5 kg of spoiled fish at Coimbatore

Food Safety Department officials conducted raid in 51 shops in Ukkadam Lorry Pettai and  Ukkadam retail fish market area on Selvapuram bypass road.

During the raid, about 65 kg of spoiled fish in 5 wholesale fish shops and 38.05 kg of spoiled fish in 4 retail fish shops, totaling 103.5 kg of fish were seized and destroyed. Notice will be served under section 55 of the Regulations Act 2006 to the shops. Therefore, strict action will be taken against those who sell such spoiled and old fish as per the Food Safety Act, and such random field inspections will continue in all areas of the district, the District Collector said.
